IBM Japan, Ltd. stated that NTT DATA Group Corporation has embraced IBM watsonx.governance, an AI governance platform, for risk management activities associated with AI service and development initiatives.
In order to control the constantly growing number of AI development projects and encourage safer and more responsible usage of AI, this will fortify the NTT DATA Group’s risk management system.
The goal of the NTT DATA Group is to “use information technology to create new systems and value, contributing to the realization of a richer, more harmonious society.” Together with its clients, the Group looks to the future and uses digital technology to transform businesses and address social concerns to build a more prosperous and peaceful society.
In more than 70 nations worldwide, the Group offers a range of IT services, from consultation to system development and operation.
The NTT DATA Group has established the AI Governance Office as a specialized organization to oversee AI risks and governance in order to support the proactive use of AI. It is also supporting the promotion of AI governance within group companies by establishing an AI governance system, developing AI policies and guidelines, and developing and implementing guidelines for the use of generated AI.
Additionally, the office offers consulting services including project-specific risk assessments and the presentation of risk avoidance and risk reduction techniques in response to the constantly growing number of AI development and service providing situations.
When IBM released its “Trust and Transparency Principles” in 2018, it was a trailblazer in global trends. Since then, it has encouraged extensive AI governance initiatives among its clients and within the organization, such as the creation of a global AI Ethics Committee.
AI governance is defined by IBM Japan as “the establishment and operation of appropriate guardrails to advance the use of AI,” and the company is encouraging its clients to build AI governance from both an organizational/process and a systems standpoint.
