The London-based financial crime compliance RegTech, Napier AI, has been selected for the launching of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Supercharged Sandbox. This was aimed to supplement the secure, reliable, and catalyzed development of AI solutions in the UK economic services.
Innovative companies will be able to quickly test, validate, and improve their AI models with access to cutting-edge technological resources and regulatory knowledge due to the FCA Supercharged Sandbox, which is backed by NayaOne and makes use of NVIDIA AI Enterprise.
The inaugural cohort will include five members of the Napier AI Data Science team, including Chief Data Scientist Dr. Janet Bastiman. An industry bootcamp and Demo Day event, frequent project updates, and a testing report showcasing the finished solutions are all part of the three-month program.
To identify money laundering typologies more effectively than earlier rules-based systems, Napier AI will employ cutting-edge frequency-based AI algorithms on extensive, artificial financial data sets as part of the Sandbox.
By eliminating a crucial blind spot, the effort might significantly increase the industry’s capacity to identify and thwart intricate money laundering operations in real time. Financial crime compliance alone cost UK financial institutions more than £7 billion in 2024, according to the Napier AI/AML Index-2025-2026.
Customers would be less vulnerable to financial crime exposure, account freezes, and false positives brought on by inaccurate detection systems. For businesses, however, it would enhance detection accuracy at a lower computational cost, identify money laundering behavior more quickly, and maybe lessen fines and reputational harm from regulators.
Will Monk at Napier AI, said,
“The effective and ethical deployment of AI systems across financial services is not a challenge the industry can solve alone, requiring cross-collaboration from businesses, regulators and technology providers to put robust risk management frameworks and safe innovation environments in place. Working through the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox will enable leading AI players to accelerate the development of game-changing AI solutions in a controlled manner, building safe systems that have a transformative impact across both the industry and wider society.”
