Anthropic has increased its internal projections to show a 20% revenue forecast increase for 2026, now pegging revenue at $18 billion.
This upward revision shows the demand for the company’s AI models is accelerating, especially for enterprise buyers. This also enables the company to position itself as one of the more rapidly growing companies in the AI space.
Considering the company’s revenue forecast, for 2027 it is predicting $55 billion and $148 billion by 2029 in its highest growth scenario.
This prediction already places the company above Open AI for predicted revenue in 2027, by an approximate $3 billion. This shows the competition is getting tighter among the top companies in the AI development space.
Anthropic is also seeing growth in revenue due to the company selling its AI models via application programming interface to corporate customers. The company has been gaining attention in the coding and software development arenas, mostly due to the company’s coding agent, Claude Code.
Just recently, in November, Claude Code became the first AI coding agent to surpass an annualized revenue of $1 billion, representing a strong enterprise uptake.
With increased growth also comes increased costs. Anthropic now expects it will break even by 2028, one year later than what the company had forecasted.
The company anticipates $2.2 billion in cash flow for that year. The overall greater costs tied to the increased workforce and operating expenses that come with training and running large-scale AI models has also contributed to the extended timelines.
In 2026, Anthropic anticipates an expenditure of $12 billion for model training, additionally estimating $7 billion for servicing its systems to paying customers.
At a $350 billion valuation, the firm is also securing over $10 billion in fresh capital, in a tranche spearheaded by Singapore’s GIC and Coatue Management, with Nvidia and Microsoft pledging $10 billion and $5 billion, respectively.
